@article{Human rights and ethnic-racial relations: a teaching experience report_2026, place={Ponta Grossa - PR, Brasil.}, volume={26}, url={https://revistas.uepg.br/index.php/emancipacao/article/view/23643}, DOI={10.5212/Emancipacao.v.26.2623643.003}, abstractNote={ This paper aims to report on experiences in the Ethnic-Racial Relations and Human Rights course, offered as part of a bachelor’s degree program at a public university in Maranhão, during the first semester of 2024, over four weekends. Adopting a qualitative ethnographic approach, the study is based on participant observation, teaching experience reports, and bibliographic research. It was observed that, despite the advances  romoted by Laws 10.639/2003 and 11.645/2008, the fight against racism in Brazil is still in its infancy. In  universities, these laws encourage pedagogical changes, but they often encounter resistance in  denialist discourses that disregard historical racial inequalities. The report highlights the importance  of the effective implementation of these laws in teacher training, reinforcing the need for  pedagogical practices that promote a culture of human rights and anti-racist education, capable of overcoming structural and social obstacles present in the Brazilian educational context.  }, journal={Emancipação}, year={2026}, month={Feb.}, pages={1–18} }
