Como metodologia optou-se pela abordagem qualitativa, envolvendo observação de campo, entrevista semi-estruturada e revisão bibliográfica e documental. Os resultados deste trabalho apontam para o estabelecimento de uma rede dinâmica e articulada entre os serviços das políticas sociais e a utilização do território de modo estratégico pela população, na tentativa de dar respostas às suas demandas e necessidades.

Abstract: This article presents a reflection on the survival strategies of a group of women, assisted by a social welfare organization and residents from Historical Central Region of Santos, a city on the south coast of São Paulo, facing socio - spatial transformations, generators social inequality and poverty. We, opted for the qualitative approach methodology, involving field observation, semi-structured interview, bibliographical and documentary review. The results of this work point to the establishment of a dynamic and articulated network between the services of social policies and the use of the territory in a strategic way by the population, in an attempt to respond to their demands and needs.
