Resumo

In this work, ultra high molecular weight polyethylene was subject to high energy mechanical milling for different milling times (5, 10 and 15 hours). Mössbauer spectroscopy analysis revealed that iron particles, coming from the milling container, incorporated to the polymeric matrix. It is important to study the effects such iron contaminating particles promote on the polymeric cells, once the contaminated polymer might present new properties. Mössbauer spectra clearly showed the formation of two paramagnetic phases.
