This study analyzes the online journalistic coverage of the conflict between the forró/pé-de-serra singer Flávio José and the country/agronejo singer Gusttavo Lima during the 40th edition of the Maior São João do Mundo festival in Campina Grande, Paraíba. The research focuses on how local and national outlets approached the event, investigating the characteristics of web journalism and possible editorial biases. News published on portals such as G1 Paraíba, Jornal da Paraíba, O Globo and Estadão were analyzed. The results indicate that coverage was influenced by social networks and official notes, with little critical depth. This article concludes with a discussion of the need for greater polyphony and depth in online news coverage.
