La fiesta de São Marçal es una manifestación de la cultura popular de Maranhão que se realiza desde hace más de 90 años, el 30 de junio, en el barrio de João Paulo. En nuestro estudio, abordaremos el tema a través de búsqueda bibliográfica y entrevistas exploratorias con el objetivo de extraer las mediaciones encontradas en este Festejo, así como indicadores de que potencialmente contribuye al desarrollo local con publicidad a través de los medios de comunicación. También buscaremos resaltar las mediaciones contenidas en el Festejo de São Marçal y su esencialidad como factor de legitimación del acento de Bumba-meu-boi de matraca, con el objetivo de interpretar la tradición cultural local y su influencia en los actores que participar en esta demostración.
