A gênese do termo ex-votos remonta aos povos gregos e romanos e traz em sua semântica o reconhecimento de fé, sendo materializado nas peças que simbolizam o agradecimento de uma graça alcançada, em muitos casos referentes à cura de uma doença. Os ex-votos podem se apresentar de diversas formas, entretanto, este artigo objetiva analisar alguns aspectos das cartas e bilhetes ex-votivos pesquisados através do projeto Ex-votos do Brasil, que visa identificar catalogar a vasta tipologia dos ex-votos brasileiros. O recorte aqui se justifica por trazer elementos advindos de um processo Folkcomunicacional e linguístico, com bases teóricas que fundamentam a importância e a força que o ex-voto tem com media.
