While representing teaching, I myself become a teacher: a research with Music student teachers

Abstract

The present paper derives from a research that aimed to investigate representations about student teaching in the academic-professional formation of the undergraduate course in Music offered by the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (FUSM). Based on studies concerning teacher’s formation, supervised student teaching and musical education, this work aimed to understand and analyze the representations, beliefs, ideas and values of music students in relation to the student teaching model, as well as to understand the processes of genesis and transformation regarding the development of teaching as a whole. The findings indicate that the representations of the supervised student teaching change along the formation and that the central aspect regarding teaching conveys the positive aspiration of being a “good music teacher” in different educational contexts.

  • Cláudia Ribeiro Bellochio, Federal University of Santa Maria

    Possui graduação em Música pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (1987), graduação em Pedagogia pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (1989), mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (1994) e doutorado em Educação pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2000). Atualmente é presidente do Conselho Editorial/editora da Revista do Centro de Educação da UFSM. Foi editora da Revista da Associação Brasileira de Educação Musical nos anos de 2007/2009. É membro da diretoria da Associação Brasileira de Educação Musical com a função de coordenadora da região sul do Brasil. É professora associado da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, atuando no ensino na graduação e pós-graduação. Coordena o grupo de pesquisa FAPEM: formação, ação e pesquisa em Educação Musical. Tem experiência na área de Educação, com ênfase em Educação Musical, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: educação musical, formação de professores, canto coral, educação e educação musical escolar.
