Ethical issues

The journal Práxis Educativa is fully committed with complying with ethical issues related to the papers published and the evaluation and publication processes. In general, ethical decisions and procedures are based on the following documents:

- Resolution CNS nº 466/2012 (Ethics in the Research involving human beings) and Resolution CNS nº 510/2016 (Ethics in the Research – field of Social and Human Sciences);

- APA Manual (Editora Penso, 2012);

- CNPq Document – Ethics and Integrity in the scientific practice (https://www.gov.br/cnpq/pt-br/composicao/comissao-de-integridade);

1 – Regarding Papers

- If the paper has been submitted to an Ethics Committee (CEP/CONEP or another system), the authors must mention it in the paper (for example, footnotes).

- Editors, in the preliminary analysis, seek to identify the ethical procedures used in the research and ask referees to do the same.

2 – Regarding authorship

- The journal recommends that authors and co-authors discuss clearly the order of authorship and the co-authors to be included in the paper. Authors must bear in mind items 17 and 20 of the CNPq document (Ethics and Integrity in the scientific practice): 17- Only people who lent significant contribution to the paper deserve authorship in a manuscript; 20 – authors must be able to describe, whenever required, their personal contribution to the work.

3 – Regarding plagiarism and self-plagiarism

The journal editing board might use a plagiarism control program before sending the papers to the referees.

Before submitting the paper, authors must be sure that all the ideas of other authors have been duly cited and included in the references.

As regards self-plagiarism, we remind the authors that the paper must be an original contribution and the authors’ previous works must be cited whenever necessary for the comprehension of the unpublished paper when referring to the theory or methodology (according to the APA manual).

4 – Evaluation process

- During the revision process, the paper submitted is treated as a confidential document (APA manual). Editors and referees cannot cite or circulate copies of the manuscript with any purpose (APA manual).

 - Only papers duly inserted in the Open Journal System (OJS) will be evaluated. Likewise, all evaluation processes must only be considered valid if carried out through this system.

- All manuscripts will be evaluated by two referees. If contradictory opinions are produced, the opinion of other referees will be required.

- Paper submission dates, final version deadline and acceptance will be provided via OJS, and no alteration will be possible.

- Regarding calls for papers for dossiers, the journal will follow the items listed in the call.
