Abstract

This work addresses the trajectory of the racial issue and the anti-racist demands in education, and contextualizes the creation of Laws no. 10,639/2003 and no. 11,645 2008 and the discipline Education and Ethnic-Racial Relations, in the undergraduate teaching courses degree in Higher Education. The intention is to discuss the difficulties in implementing this discipline and the laws in question as indicative of educational-cultural-racial-social problems that may have favored political-institutional setbacks in the current national conjuncture and impaired the recomposition and the resumption of progressive initiatives. Such perceptions are based on long praxis as an educator in public Basic Education networks and in teacher education courses in Higher Education and research on the implementation of laws in basic schools.
