EVALUATION OF THE DYNAMICS OF THE LANDSCAPE, AIMING AT THE ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES BEFORE THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE COASTAL SPIG IN THE BEACH OF PONTA D’AREIA, SÃO LUÍS - MA

Abstract

The present study aimed to carry out an analysis of the evaluation of the landscape dynamics, aiming at the environmental changes before the construction of the Coastal Espigão at Praia da Ponta D’Areia, São Luís - MA, seeking to highlight the changes that occurred over a 15-year horizon. The assessment was processed by mapping the area's coverage satellites for the years 2004 to 2019, which were acquired from the Ponta da Areia Coastal Spike Study Report by HM Consultoria e Projeto de Engenharia LTDA and the Google Earth. Thus, when comparing the time horizons, changes were shown in terms of sediment transport that resulted in the fattening of the beach, preventing the sea from advancing in real estate developments in the vicinity of the site without causing damage to these urban structures.
