With the advent of computer processing capabilities, numerical modeling of hydraulic phenomena has increasingly been used to solve engineering problems. The general objective of this article is to study the water levels and pressures along a dissipation basin by hydraulic jump using the computational modeling tools present in FLOW 3D® software in a case study of a spillway, where tests were conducted on a reduced hydraulic model (physical model) to determine these quantities. The studies were based on quantitative and qualitative analyses of the results obtained from the computational model compared to the results obtained from the reduced physical model. The aim was to evaluate the hydraulic conditions in the dissipation basin obtained from the computational model through mathematical simulations using two distinct turbulence models, κ-ε RNG and κ-ω. The analyses allowed us to conclude that the simulation conducted with the κ-ε RNG turbulence model better replicated the pressure and water level results observed in the physical model compared to the simulation conducted with the κ-ω turbulence model.
