Between plots, devices and networks of government in the socio-educational sphere: six (neo)Foucaultian contributions to the theoretical field of Educational Policy

Abstract

In this article we propose to systematize a series of contributions to the study of educational policies that seek to continue discussions on the theoretical field of Educational Policy and its objects of study (Giovine, 2016b; Mainardes, 2015; Tello, 2022). This is based on a concatenation of empirical research carried out in this field in which we emphasize the problem of the government of education. Thus, the contributions we present arise from the hypothesis that the trajectories followed by educational policies require grids whose analytical power is capable of describing the government objectives pursued by educational policies; the processes of problematization and objectification that these produce; the discursive articulations in the order of knowledge, power and subjectivity; and, mainly, the multiple and heterogeneous agencies that decentralize the role of the State in the formulation and implementation of educational policies – even when it continues to exclusively possess the power to legislate. Particularly, we develop this debate from post-structuralist perspectives that are located in the different trajectories and drifts that Foucauldian and neo-Foucauldian thought have followed in recent years.
