Esta etnografía  describe la economía política que existe detrás del consumo de pasta base de cocaína en un barrio considerado peligroso en la ciudad de Quito (Ecuador), las formas en que esta droga se consume y la fuerte adicción que produce. Todo esto logrado por medio del relato de vida de Fabián, un joven habitante de calle afroecuatoriano. Esta investigación busca situar un mejor conocimiento sobre el ascendente consumo de pasta base de cocaína en Ecuador, exponer las estrategias de supervivencia de los habitantes de calle, y los argumentos sociales y emocionales que han determinado su vinculación al mundo de la droga, la calle y la violencia.
