O município de Caçapava do Sul, é a capital gaúcha da geodiversidade. Este título deve-se a importância científica do seu patrimônio geológico. Essas características permitem que sejam desenvolvidas estratégias aliadas ao geoturismo e a geoconservação. Uma das estratégias consiste no Geo.dia. Este projeto visa promover a divulgação e a valorização do patrimônio geológico do município. O Geo.dia, realizado anualmente no mês de novembro, desde o ano de 2015, promove atividades em uma praça ao ar livre, além de organizar saídas a campo nos três principais geossítios do município. Como resultado desta ação, percebe-se uma maior inserção da população no contexto das geociências. Futuramente o projeto Geo.dia poderá servir como base para propostas de Geopark.
