As representações gráficas ocupam espaço privilegiado nas viagens dos naturalistas desde o século XVIII e se constituíram como elementos fundamentais da análise geográfica. O objetivo central do presente artigo é pensar sobre as ilustrações que compuseram as geografias do Brasil a partir da Viagem Filosófica do naturalista Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira no século XVIII. Primeiramente apresentamos a relevância das expedições empreendidas pelos naturalistas e das imagens produzidas nessas expedições que ajudaram a consolidar a Geografia enquanto disciplina. Em seguida, trazemos a trajetória de Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira e sua Viagem Filosófica pelo Brasil. Por último, analisamos, a partir de algumas representações gráficas produzidas por ele, a construção de imagens e imaginários sobre o Brasil da época.
