<p>A Revista Uniletras foi criada pelo Departamento de Letras no ano de 1979 com o objetivo de oportunizar o desenvolvimento e a ampliação da área de atuação e promover maior integração da comunidade à vida universitária.</p> <p>Durante os 40 anos de publicação ininterrupta, a Revista Uniletras avançou em direções inimagináveis tornando-se um espaço legítimo de discussão e reflexão sobre os assuntos pertinentes a área de Letras e afins. Atualmente possui um conselho editorial de diferentes instituições de ensino superior do Brasil e do exterior. Periódico referenciado pelo Projeto Qualis-Capes e indexado em Geo-Dados, em outras importantes base de dados.</p> <p>Para acompanhar a evolução tecnológica, no ano de 2007, a Revista Uniletras passou a circular também <em>online</em>, além da circulação impressa. Com essa iniciativa, ampliamos e aprimoramos os laços com a comunidade acadêmica e não acadêmica do mundo da <em>web</em>. <p><em>The Handmaid’s Tale</em> (1985) and<em> The Testaments </em>(2019) by Margaret Atwood depict the Republic of Gilead, a regime that rigidly controls the population, mainly women. The restriction of language, both spoken and written, is used as an apparatus of control. However, the respective protagonists – Offred and Aunt Lydia – employ language as a centrifugal force of resistance by documenting the violence they endured. This study aims to comparatively analyze the narratives to understand how language functions as both an apparatus of control and a centrifugal force of resistance. We also aim to reflect on the social roles of Handmaids and Aunts and the range and/ or lack of power granted to them. The study is supported by Mikhail Bakhtin’s concepts, such as centripetal and centrifugal forces in discourse and Michel Foucault’s concept of apparatus.</p>Yohana Gonçalves Bonfim Evanir Pavloski

2025-07-282025-07-2847122FROM UNIVERSAL LITERATURE TO BRAZILIAN CORDEL: ADAPTATIONS AS INTRASEMIOTIC TRANSLATIONS

<p>Translations can be considered as rewritings of original texts, and as such, they can help authors and works to be disseminated and appreciated more widely, reaching audiences whose original works, for various reasons, would not be easily accessible. In this context, in this study, we present some adaptations of classics of universal literature for the literary genre of Brazilian cordel. In this work, we consider such adaptations as intrasemiotic translations, since such transmutations occur from a verbal semiotic medium to the same verbal semiotic medium, in which titles of universal literature are transformed into narrative poems written in the fixed poetic forms typical of Brazilian cordel. We have presented multiple examples of this type of translation, from the early years of cordel production to the present day, whose literary tradition has already reached over 120 years.</p>Claudia Regina Rodrigues CaladoEduardo Bezerra de Menezes Macedo e Silva

<p>This article presents possible teaching practices for teaching and reviewing English Language topics for the final years of Elementary School using the short story “A Daydream” by Irish author Maeve Brennan. The proposal assumes of the importance of using literature in class, not only in Portuguese, but also in English, when it enables interdisciplinary dynamics and can make learning more practical, while students are able to grasp the meaning of a literary text originally written in English. <p>The analytical experience is an experience of the word, although language does not sufficiently express everything that involves the psychological constitution of each being. Poetry, in turn, presents itself as a way of accessing the truth of the subject, understood as the totality in which he constitutes himself as a lyrical self. The revelation of truth is the principle that amalgamates poetry with the science of psychoanalysis: it is the revelation of the word through the word. Starting from Lacan’s notions of real, imaginary and symbolic and his assertion that the unconscious is structured like a language, as well as from the premises that poetry is an access to meaning and, as a metalinguistic, allows us to ascend to an experimentation of our own limits, the objective is to analyze to what extent metalanguage unveils the truth of the poetic being, extended to that of the subject, considering the conflict of his subjectivity in the face of what he presents as most inaccessible.</p>Carla Alexandra Ezarqui

<p>This article aims to present part of the results of a doctoral research conducted in the field of Applied Linguistics (AL), with its theoretical foundations grounded in Dialogic Studies of Language (Bakhtin/Vološinov, 2014 [1929]; Bakhtin, 2011 [1979]; Medvedev, 2012 [1928]; Vološinov, 2013 [1930], 2017 [1929]). Considering the discussions surrounding the practice of linguistic analysis, from its introduction in the educational sphere (Geraldi, 1984, 1991) to its inclusion as a teaching practice in basic education (Brasil, 1998, 2018), we seek to identify and quantify the scientific production on Linguistic Analysis Practice (LA, LAP, LAP/S) developed in Brazil from 1998 to 2021, in order to create a quantitative scenario of dissertations and theses produced in Brazilian postgraduate programs. <p>In A cartomante (2002), Machado de Assis presents a case of adultery involving two friends, Camilo and Vilela, and the latter’s wife. In this context, this essay aims to highlight, based on the methodological assumptions of narratology, the path through which the narrator of A cartomante introduces and leads the narrator to knowledge of the plot. To this end, we seek to identify and analyze the constitutive resources of the narrative, starting from the assumption that the narration of the story under analysis presents formal particularities that aim to induce the narrator to a position governed by the narrator’s own set of moral and ideological values. <p>This article is derived from my doctoral research (Werner, 2022). I have focused on the enunciative functioning of metonymy within the framework of Event Semantics (Guimarães, 2002, 2018), as another form of re-scripting meanings created at the moment of utterance. In conducting this study, I consider one of the fundamental functions of enunciation proposed within this theoretical framework: re-scripting. The analysis is based on excerpts from Gramática de la lengua castellana, destinada al uso de los americanos (1847), by the Venezuelan Andrés Bello. The findings indicate that metonymy operates as an additional mode of enunciative re-scripting by substitution, among those previously identified in the theory. It functions within metalinguistic discourse, establishing new meaning possibilities arising from its operation. Furthermore, the language designated metonymically in this linguistic tool reveals its constitutive heterogeneity.</p>Kelly Cristini Granzotto Werner

<p>This article advocates for a functional perspective on grammar teaching (Amorim, 2020), grounded in the foundational principles of Educational Sociolinguistics (Bortoni-Ricardo, 2005; Bagno, 2007) and Functionalism (Bybee, 2010) while aligning with the guidelines set forth by the PCN and BNCC. To this end, it presents a didactic proposal that focuses on using causal connectives in spoken and written textual genres, seeking to move away from a purely classificatory approach and toward a teaching model centered on (meta)linguistic operations in textual production. By avoiding the traditional practice of classifying conjunctions and clauses, this study legitimizes didactic alternatives that, based on the analysis of semantic-discursive and variationist aspects, explore grammatical elements as tools for constructing texts (Antunes, 2003; 2005; Avelar, 2017). Thus, a functional, productive, and scientific approach to grammar teaching in the classroom is outlined.</p>Fabrício da Silva Amorim

<p>A relação entre as ideias expressas na narrativa e a poesia no século XVIII, estabelece um vínculo entre Tomás Antônio Gonzaga, autor da obra <em>Marília de Dirceu</em>, e Ignacio de Luzán, autor de <em>La poética</em>. Gonzaga explora a imagem poética, que dialoga com as concepções Luzán, que vê a poesia do século XVIII como imitação precisa da realidade. Especificamente, a complexidade do desenvolvimento estético da poesia brasileira do século XVIII na obra de Gonzaga define a identidade literária de uma sociedade no processo de formação e desenvolvimento. Nesse contexto, a pertinência de estabelecer o que Gadamer define como “diálogo e poesia” nas expressões teóricas e artísticas da poesia do século XVIII no Brasil e na Espanha institui um diálogo no processo de criação e desenvolvimento de uma poesia de caráter nacional.</p>Francisco Lima Baca

<p>Neologisms are new lexical units that are adopted in a language. This paper selects as object of study the neological creations of slang referring to the LGBTQIAPN+ community, also called lavender, gay or queer. Thus, with emphasis on neologisms and Lavender Linguistics, it is proposed to examine here some of its lexical items created by neology. Slang is used to establish cohesiveness and, at the same time, to set apart a user, as it establishes also a link between its speakers, excluding those who do not understand and do not use it. The main aim of the paper is to reflect on and analyze the lexical-semantic aspects of the LGBTQIAPN+ slang.</p>Vivian Orsi

<p>This article analyzed the emotion of indignation as a discursive resource in the Brazilian political context, taking as a corpus four statements by Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the period of October 2022 and January 2023, where they occurred, respectively: the electoral victory in the presidential race and the inauguration of the elected president. The theoretical-methodological contribution is made in Foucauldian Discursive Studies, especially in the studies of emotions proposed by Corbin, Courtine, Vigarello <em>et al</em>. (2020a, 2020b, 2020c). The analyzes revealed that the emotion of indignation appears in Lula’s speeches in three predominant forms: as a political mobilization strategy; as a strategy for political polarization and as a denunciation of the political situation and social inequality.</p>Mariana Manzano LopesGiulle do Nascimento e SilvaOriana de Nadai Fulaneti
