This research describes the grammaticalization processes of the sign for PARECER from a synchronic point of view in Libras. The analysis employs data from the Reference Deaf of the Libras Corpus. In this research, interviews with eight Libras informants who are part of this data collection are described. Data analysis was performed using ELAN. Specific tiers were created with various types of complex sentences and one for the linguistic phenomenon of grammaticalization. The data demonstrates a complex grammaticalization process of the sign PARECER underway in Libras. This sign constitutes an evidential parenthetical with semantic and pragmatic functions of an adverb. In general, the data reveals that this sign modulates the signer’s discourse, introducing the idea of reservation and uncertainty regarding the events introduced by this sign.
