A NEW FIELD: THE IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGICAL DIFFUSION ON AN AGRICULTURAL COOPERATIVE

Abstract

The diffusion of technologies in cooperatives is crucial for their competitiveness and sustainability in an increasingly digital world. This strategic integration of digital tools brings benefits to both the cooperative and its members, impacting various aspects of the business. The research analyzed the processes of technological diffusion between the cooperative and its members through a case study and a questionnaire, using statistical tests to validate the responses of participants involved in grain production and potato units. The study demonstrated that the implementation of new technologies in the agricultural cooperative resulted in significant increases in productivity and operational efficiency. Economically, there was a reduction in operational costs and an increase in profitability, improving the quality of products and market prices. Training programs for farmers were essential for the effective adoption of new technologies. Agricultural practices became more sustainable, with a reduction in the use of water and chemical inputs, promoting the conservation of natural resources. However, technological diffusion faced challenges, including initial resistance from traditional farmers and the need for significant financial investments and continuous technical support. In the long term, the cooperative proved to be more resilient to climate change and market fluctuations, establishing a solid foundation for sustainable growth. As a suggestion for future research, it was proposed to analyze the phenomenon from the perspective of the cooperative members.
