HEMATOLOGY: MANAGEMENT OF DISEASES IN PRIMARY CARE

Abstract

How physicians in Primary Public Health Care in Natal/RN refer hematological disorders and what their topics of interest were the questions of this descriptive evaluative research conducted in the Blood extension. Thus, of the 21 participating physicians: 52.38% are permanent employees; 90.5% have completed postgraduate studies and 66.66% have previous experience in other healthcare services. Regarding hematological demands in the last 12 months, 57.1% were resolved in the primary service and 52.4% were referred in accordance with the criteria for this purpose. 61.9% reported difficulty in making referrals through the configuration of the Health Care Network itself. 95.24% said they were interested in a workshop for continued education with the topics: onco-hematological diseases, hemostatic disorders and anemia. Results suggest dissatisfaction with the organization of the municipal healthcare network, particularly regarding the referral and the return of evaluation by a hematology specialist. The situational diagnosis obtained by this study highlighted the social contribution of extension actions.
