PROBLEMATIZING TOBACCO USE AMONG CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS IN SITUATIONS OF SOCIAL VULNERABILITY

Abstract

The present article aims to present an experience report related to the problematization of smoking habits among children and adolescents in situations of social vulnerability. The action was carried out through a thematic workshop at a Service for Coexistence and Strengthening of Bonds in Paraná, addressing legal, chemical, and health aspects of tobacco consumption. Following the instructional phase, an evaluative activity was administered, consisting of the critical analysis of a satirical cartoon related to the theme of secondhand smoke. The responses provided by the children and adolescents indicate that, although there is a general understanding of the topics discussed, such as passive smoking, significant variations are observed in the depth and precision of the interpretations. These variations reflect the educational and contextual challenges faced by this audience, reinforcing the need for continuous interventions that promote both critical literacy and awareness of public health issues.
