This article aims to identify and analyze the main challenges faced by Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and the strategies adopted for the implementation of the curricularization of extension in undergraduate courses. Methodologically, a mixed approach is adopted, with an exploratory and descriptive character, through a national Systematic Literature Review (SLR), encompassing 59 scientific articles. The results reveal the predominance of pedagogical challenges, articulated with institutional and social dimensions, highlighting the need for conceptual maturation of extension, the transformation of educational practices, and the lack of resources and internal regulation. The identified strategies focus on faculty development, the use of active methodologies, and the institutionalization of regulations. It is concluded that the effectiveness of the curricularization of extension depends on the articulation among these dimensions, in line with the formative and transformative principles of university extension.ith the external community. The transformation of formative practices is central to its implementation.
