Abstract

Environmental education presents itself as a privileged way to stimulate critical reflection and active participation of the school community in sustainable initiatives. This article aims to present a university extension experience carried out in a primary school in Novo Hamburgo/RS, focused on environmental awareness through the theme of fashion waste. The initiative sought to bring teenagers closer to the socio-environmental problems generated by the disposal of fabrics and clothing, promoting practical activities of creative reuse. The project highlighted the potential of environmental education as a tool for social transformation, by stimulating reflections on conscious consumption, sustainability, and collective responsibility.
