This article presents an (auto)biographical study involving preceptors from Multiprofessional Health Residency Programs. It aims to understand, through their narratives, the meanings healthcare professionals attribute to the practice of preceptorship in these programs. Such programs provide powerful learning environments by integrating theory and practice across different settings of Brazil’s Unified Health System (SUS). Nine female preceptors affiliated with a residency program at a large hospital participated in the study. Narrative interviews were conducted and analyzed in light of the methodological principles of (auto)biographical research. The narratives indicate that, although the preceptors acknowledge and reflect on the difficulties they face, they reveal that the shifts brought about by their engagement with the residency program have a transformative effect on their professional lives. The study therefore concludes that, by reflecting on their trajectories within the residency program, the preceptors reframe their professional lives by attributing new meanings to their practice
