Abstract

The present work had the objective of evaluating the partial replacement capacity of large aggregates for solid wastes from the textile industry in the manufacture of Portland cement concrete. The textile solid residue used in the research consists of 100% polyester fabric and is the result of a donation from a company located in the northwestern region of Paraná. The residue was used in the concrete mixture in proportions of 0%, 1%, 2% and 3% by weight in the replacement of the aggregate (gravel). Four body proofs of concrete with and without textile residues were made and these were submitted to physical tests with the purpose of evaluating the feasibility of the methodology used for the resistance to compression and water absorption. In relation to the preparation of the body proofs, the greater amount of residues in the body proof gave a greater need of water quantity in the trace, as well as lower final mass and higher percentage of moisture. It was possible to analyze that the specimen with 2% of residues presented a result close to the traditional concrete. The body proof containing 3% of residues had the lowest resistance of all the tests.
