ÍNDICE DE AVALIAÇÃO DA CONDIÇÃO DE PAVIMENTOS FLEXÍVEIS URBANOS
Abstract
Many of the pavement condition assessment indexes have laborious data collection procedures and they consider only the distress as a form of assessment. This research aimed to develop a Flexible Pavements Surface Condition Index to evaluate, in a simple way, the condition of the surface of flexible urban pavements. The propound index added the criteria: Present Serviceability; Distress on the Pavement; Longitudinal Slope; Drainage and Bus Traffic Volume. Performance levels, ranging from 0 to 100 points, were adopted for each criterion and the weights were determined according to the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The developed index was applied in 13 sample units in the urban area of Londrina/ PR. The Fixed Values Matrix (MVF) was also applied to evaluate the same sample units in order to compare the results between the two indices. The correlation obtained for all sample units was 0.20. However, when the sample units with high bus traffic (over 30 buses/ hush hour) were excluded, a correlation of 0.58 was obtained. It can be concluded that on roads with high bus traffic, the indexes have a weak correlation, while on roads with less than 30 buses/ hush hour the indexes are strongly correlated. It is intended to improve the index so that it is able to reliably indicate the condition of pavements that have any bus traffic volume.
