INDICADORES EPIDEMIOLÓGICOS ASSOCIADOS AOS SERVIÇOS DE ABASTECIMENTO DE ÁGUA E DE ESGOTAMENTO SANITÁRIO NO MUNICÍPIO DE BAYEUX – PB

Abstract

Water supply and sewage services are important for the economic and social development of any region of the world, mainly because they have a significant influence on the health and quality of life of the population. The present study aimed to analyze water supply and sewage services of Bayeux-PB municipality and the main associated epidemiological indicators. For this, a descriptive analysis was carried out, where they were observed data related to the indexes of water supply and sewage services and epidemiological indicators related to associated health problems, between the years of 2008 and 2018. With this, it was verified a low population attendance for services of sewage collection, in addition to a reduction in care by water supply in the last years of the analyzed period. In relation to epidemiological indicators, it was observed some inversely proportional relations with indices of water supply and sanitary sewage, besides it is verified that the children under 5 years of age were the most affected by problems related to infectious and parasitic diseases and diarrheal diseases. The results demonstrated the necessity investments in the basic sanitation sector in the Bayeux municipality mainly in the expansion of infrastructure and sewage services, contributing to the development of the municipality and mainly to the improvement of environmental and public health conditions.
