Abstract

The ore treatment method known as sifting, aims to separate a certain material into two or more fractions, with particles of different sizes. In this case, the separation is carried out, taking into account the geometric size of the particles, and a dry or wet sifting can be done. In the case of this work, the equipment to be used will perform a dry sifting, with particle sizes up to 4 mm. It is important to note that this equipment is a vital and critical tool in a beneficiation plant. Thus, special attention is needed in determining or selecting the sieve, so that it works with the appropriate size and type. The realization of this research is aimed at the determination of an inclined vibrating sieve, with the purpose of being used in a comminution circuit of the small miners cooperative in the municipality of Pedra Lavrada - PB (COOMIPEL). According to the Metso crushing manual, and the technical guidelines of the CETEM ore treatment book, it was possible to calculate an effective sieve area of 0.53 m². From this area, it is suggested the sieve with the smallest available area, which is the model M 20008 / 1A. The implementation of this sieve model with the recommended configurations makes it possible to make changes to the flowchart of the COOMIPEL comminution circuit, allowing to obtain a material in the desired granulometry.
