AVALIAÇÃO DOS MÉTODOS DE TRAÇÃO E COMPRESSÃO PARA OBTENÇÃO DE CURVAS DE ESCOAMENTO DE LIGAS DE ALUMÍNIO
Abstract
The flow curve is an important parameter that is used in metal forming applications. It characterizes the behavior of materials during plastic deformation regimes, providing the flow stress of the material. The objective is to compare the use of two different methods to obtain it: the tensile test and compression test. Both tests were done in specimens of aluminum alloy AA6351. Data from trials were analyzed in the homogeneous deformation region, obtaining engineering flow curves and true flow curves. As for convenience in carrying out the tests, the compression test showed advantages over the tensile test, mainly due to the geometry of the test specimens. The maximum degree of analyzable deformation of the compression test is also higher than the tensile test, whereas in the second there is a disruption of the specimen that impossible to continue the test. Finally, there is equality in the flow curves of both tests in the previous regime to break the specimen
