Diagnostic of the generation of construction waste in the municipality of Alto Rio Doce, MG
Abstract
One of the major problems today is the uncontrolled generation of municipal solid waste. Much of this waste originates from construction activities, leading to a significant impact on the sector. This strand of the basic sanitation generates meaningful impacts over the municipal management, besides the environmental impacts in the irregular disposal. In this context, the general objective of this study is to evaluate the impact generated by construction waste and to seek alternatives to minimize them. For that purpose, the generation points, destination of the construction wastes and their volume data were collected in the municipality of Alto Rio Doce, MG using ArcGIS® 10.5.1 software, and the data were evaluated by linear regression. There were 30 sources of generation of construction waste in the entire municipality and 83 of destination. It was obtained a low correlation between these data and paving, when compared by neighborhood. The ratio of total public roads and destination points had a greater correlation. The number of irregular final destination points was significant, requiring public policies to guide the population. It is suggested the creation of the Integrated Management Plan for Construction Waste to aid in the management of this kind of waste in the municipality.
