Abstract

The study aims to evaluate the mechanical behavior through the analysis of the compressive strength of the concrete produced with PVC waste as coarse aggregate, partially replacing the gravel powder. Specimens were developed with percentages of 25%, 50% and 75% PVC, the three percentages being tested after 7 days, 14 days and 28 days of wet curing, in order to compare the behavior of gravel powder and different percentages of PVC in the mix. According to the results, for specimens with 7 days, 14 days and 28 days of cure, the average compressive strength was higher in samples of 25%, 50% and 25% PVC, respectively. Among them, the most resistant was at 28 days with a percentage of 25% PVC, with an average of 45.12 MPa. For the scientific community, this work has great relevance, since using PVC waste in civil construction is a way to contribute to meeting sustainable development requirements, being advantageous in comparison to many conventional materials because it has optimized performance, durability superior and cost-effective.
