ANALYSIS ON THE GUARANTEE OF USER SAFETY IN COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS AND THE IMPORTANCE OF PREPARING THE FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION PLAN – PPCI

Abstract

This study covers the procedures for the elaboration of the Fire Prevention and Protection Plan - PPCI, being seen not only as a bureaucratic item for compliance with regulations, but as a tool that must be used by designers as fire prevention measures in buildings. The objective was to analyze the importance of the Fire Prevention and Protection Plan for society.  Therefore, a qualitative bibliographic survey was carried out, seeking to identify how Brazil is facing the need for fire safety. In addition, the research aimed to understand how the use of prescriptive projects or performance-based projects could be applied, pointing out which points should be improved for the elaboration of an effective PPCI for society. It was noticed that it is essential to adopt means to prevent fires in establishments, but, due to the lack of information, training and guidelines, society is still behind in relation to fire safety. It was even noted that the PPCI is considered by traders, in some situations, as a merely bureaucratic process, not considering the real importance of the Fire Prevention and Protection Plan.
