RESIDENTIAL ELECTRICAL REGISTRATION SYSTEM FOR LOAD DISAGGREGATION

Authors

Abstract

A large part of those responsible for the consumption of Brazil's electricity matrix is the residential sector. One way to try to solve this energy resource management would be to increase the amount of information passed on to consumers in order to cooperate with the re-education of consumption habits. In this way, disaggregation techniques (such as non-intrusive monitoring - NILM) have been contributing to better quantify the consumption of each equipment contained in the residential environment. However, it is known that for the Brazilian reality, public datasets of electrical signals to validate residential monitoring systems are scarce. Thus, this paper proposes an electrical logging system designed to assist in the study of load disaggregation used by the NILM community and bring useful feedback information in the process of waste reduction and energy efficiency. The implemented system was applied in a real environment monitoring three household appliances (refrigerator, electric shower and microwave). With the recorded data relevant information about consumption was obtained, providing statistics and usage patterns of the set of monitored appliances.
