Abstract

Urban development brings with it housing needs. In Brazil, the urbanization process occurred at an accelerated pace and, therefore, many structures did not receive due attention. Currently one of the structures that present problems in large cities is the drainage system that, when underdimensioned can bring damage to the inhabitants and the environment. Considering this situation, this work verified some methods for sizing detention basins in the literature and the method proposed by Resolution SEDEST 50/2022. All these studies were based on a typical subdivision in the city of Maringá-PR. These basins were sized with precipitation data calculated by the IDF curve of Cianorte. The results showed that, despite adopting different calculation methodologies, the dimensioned volumes of the basins were very close to each other. After this analysis a new study was done adopting Low Impact Development measures, with the implementation of permeable sidewalk and green roofs. Thus, it was observed that the implementation of low impact measures significantly influenced the area committed for the installation of detention basins, proving interesting to use them together.
