LEVANTAMENTO DO POTENCIAL DE GERAÇÃO DE ENERGIA EÓLICA NA REGIÃO NORTE DO ESTADO DE MINAS GERAIS

Abstract

Currently, with the increase in environmental concerns around the planet, the focus on finding alternatives to fossil fuels has also increased. After all, besides polluting the environment they are increasingly limited, so the use of renewable energy becomes a great way out for the reconstruction of the world energy matrix. Among the renewable sources available, wind energy is highlighted, abundant in the environment and clean. Other promising renewable energy sources in the northern region of the state of Minas Gerais are biomass and solar photovoltaic. In this sense, the objective of this work was to calculate the wind energy potential in the north of Minas Gerais, leading to a comparison of this potential with the energy potentials: solar photovoltaic and biomass. To reach the objective of this work, a study was made from books, articles, official documents and mainly a survey conducted by Cemig in 2010, an energy utility in the state, which prepared the so-called Wind Atlas of Minas Gerais. And from the results of this work it was possible to highlight the already anticipated findings that wind energy in the northern region of Minas Gerais is very promising, presenting a higher energy potential than solar photovoltaic and biomass.
