Abstract

The assessment of water quality, management and management of water resources is essential to improve environmental quality and promote water security. The process of replacing the native forest cover with different ones is notorious, even in areas that should be of permanent preservation, which disregards the specificities of the environment and the respective legal apparatus, which causes pressure on natural and water resources. Therefore, the objective of this research is to present the current scenario regarding the information from the National Water Quality Portal (PNQA), as it shows information and data on the springs. water availability is directly related to the conservation of springs, and the form of use and occupation, in addition to the proper disposal of domestic and industrial effluents from the most sustainable territory. It is essential to properly know and estimate the polluting loads of the basin, and respective tributaries, so that pollution control and mitigation actions can be defined. It results in pointing out that the assessment of water quality obtained by the WQI has limitations, since this index does not analyze several important parameters for public supply, such as toxic substances (eg heavy metals, pesticides, organic compounds), pathogenic protozoa and substances that interfere with the organoleptic properties of water (PNQA, 2022). With that in mind, the planet's water is always changing, and in the last century one of the main changes was contamination, especially in large cities and coastal regions.
