Abstract

Abstract: To achieve more efficient and sustainable buildings, architects and engineers have been increasingly concerned with the environmental comfort and energy efficiency of constructions, adopting appropriate bioclimatic strategies. However, the correct choice of these strategies depends on the availability of reliable climatic data, which becomes problematic in the current Brazilian context due to the lack of publication of climatic data for most municipalities, as well as their quality. This issue is evident for the case of municipalities in the state of Ceará, characterized by a lack of easily accessible works in this area, especially for regions other than Fortaleza, directly hindering the development of comparative studies and projects aiming to understand the most cost-effective and thermally comfortable construction strategies for these regions. Based on this situation, this work focuses on defining the Test Reference Year (TRY) using the ASHRAE methodology for the locations of Morada Nova and Jaguaruana, both belonging to the microregion of Baixo Jaguaribe. This aims to generate climate files that allow for a comparison between these two locations, identifying similarities and differences in recommended bioclimatic strategies and comfort throughout the year. The goal is to fill the gap in applied research in this region, enabling the development of reliable climate files that can be used in energy simulation software to assist in decision-making and serve as a basis for future research in this area.
