MODELING, SIMULATION AND STRESS ANALYSIS IN MULTI-V PULLEYS

Authors

Abstract

The present study consists in the formulation of a comparative analysis between two V-pulleys with different profiles, pulley 3V and pulley 5V, of similar dimensions with tensions according to their measurements, same material of manufacture (carbon steel) and mainly the difference in what refers to the number of channels, in order to have an understanding about the importance of specifying each multiple V-pulley profile for its proper use. The Autodesk Inventor software was essential for the development of this study, through it performing the modeling and simulation of the two pulley models, as well as stress analysis through the finite element method. Considering the established parameters and carrying out the stress analysis of each modeled and simulated part, it can be seen that the two models act in a similar way and have similar reactions to forces. The crucial point that differentiates them concerns exactly the difference in the number of channels, which provides the V-shaped pulley with a 5V profile with greater power transmission in a system of belts and pulleys, due to greater traction on the surface of the part.
