MAPEAMENTO GEOTÉCNICO DO MUNICÍPIO DE PELOTAS/RS: CARACTERIZAÇÃO E COMPORTAMENTO DE UNIDADES GEOTÉCNICAS

Abstract

Several researches were carried out by FURG’s (Federal University of Rio Grande) Geotechnical Group with the aim of mapping and geotechnically characterizing soils of the Rio Grande do Sul State Coastal Plain. However, these researches were carried out with geological and pedological information available at their times. Recently, a new study was published with the presentation of an estimate of geotechnical units for Pelotas, city located in the south of Rio Grande do Sul State. Thus, with the objective of carrying out a comparative evaluation, the present research crosses geotechnical characterization and behavior data from predecessor works with this most recent estimate of geotechnical units. Data from five deposits were used, which are distributed in four geotechnical units, and occupy 64.4% of the area of the urban center of Pelotas. In summary, the geotechnical characterization results confirm the estimate of geotechnical units presented.
