BARRAGEM DO CHASQUEIRO – ARROIO GRANDE/RS

Abstract

This paper is part of a project by the Geotechnical Group of the Federal University of Rio Grande – FURG and partner researchers on the use of geotechnical methods and geotechnologies as a tool for the auscultation of an earth dam. The case study is carried out at Chasqueiro Dam, which is located in Arroio Grande, in Rio Grande do Sul state extreme south and which is administered by UFPel (Federal University of Pelotas). The work simulates the application of the Earth Dam Regular Safety Inspection in the Chasqueiro Dam, evaluating items related to the dam. It is noteworthy that some items could not be inspected such as flow meters and relief wells. Thus, the main anomaly identified was the clogging of two of the seven piezometers present on the dam crest. This conclusion was forwarded to the dam management agency, which will investigate the possibility of taking measures.
