INVENTÁRIO DE PROPRIEDADES GEOTÉCNICAS E OUTRAS INFORMAÇÕES DE INTERESSE DA BARRAGEM DO CHASQUEIRO/RS

Abstract

This paper describes and discusses the results of the inventory stage of geotechnical properties and other information of interest from the Chasqueiro Dam auscultation process. An earth dam located in the south of the Rio Grande do Sul state. The procedures adopted aim to verify the hypothesis used in the project validity. The data shows that the dam was assented on sandy alluvium in the central portion of it, sandy clay transported soil, in the intermediate portion, and clay-silty transported soil in the portions closest to the ends of the dam. It is observed that the lowest altitudes occurred in the regions of alluvium transported by the streams and the highest occurred closer to the dam end. The slope map shows that original slope of the terrain varied between 0 and 30%, with a predominance of slopes between 2 and 4%. As for construction geomaterials, most of them were found in the field with humidity greater than the optimum humidity for compactation, which denotes that to be used as construction material for the dam, most soils would require a drying process for their use, which, in general, is difficult to be done satisfactorily in field.
