REVISÃO CRÍTICA DE MÉTODOS DE CÁLCULO DE VAZÃO PARA FUTURA APLICAÇÃO NA REPRESA DOS ALAGADOS, PONTA GROSSA, PARANÁ

Abstract

Hydrological studies aim to assess methods for calculating surface runoff in watersheds. The choice of the best method depends on factors such as the area, soil type, rainfall intensity, among others. This article aims to review the literature on rainfall-to-runoff calculation methods and analyze the distinctions among them for future application in the Alagados Reservoir in Ponta Grossa, Paraná. The methodology included the Rational Method, Modified Rational Method, and the SCS Method, using the digitization of the Pitangui River basin with Digital Elevation Model (DEM) data. The literature review considered fundamental works, prioritizing a critical approach to the applicability, advantages, and disadvantages of each method. The results reveal that the SCS Method, considering variables such as excess rainfall and curve number based on soil type, stands out as the most suitable for large basins, such as the Alagados Reservoir. The Rational and Modified Rational Methods are valid for smaller basins, up to 0.5 km², although they have limitations in distributing rainfall throughout the basin. The comparative analysis highlights the importance of choosing the appropriate approach based on the specific characteristics of the studied basin, providing valuable insights for water and environmental management.
