Abstract

The study addresses the sizing of a rainwater utilisation system in a multi-family residential building in Irati - PR. Starting with an introduction that highlights the importance of rainwater reuse in various regions of Brazil, the article emphasises its environmental and economic benefits, especially in preventing floods and conserving drinking water resources. The methodology details the study area, considers meteorological factors and determines the design flow according to Brazilian technical standards. The sizing of gutters and conductors is presented based on NBR 10844/1989, demonstrating the careful selection of materials and the application of specific equations. The results highlight the catchment area, design flow and the precise sizing of gutters and downpipes for the building in question. The choice of thermo-acoustic tiles and the consideration of local aspects emphasise the practical application and adaptability of the system. The conclusion highlights the importance of the study for professionals and researchers interested in sustainable solutions, providing a technical, normative and practical analysis of rainwater utilisation in urban contexts. The article serves as a valuable reference for the efficient implementation of these systems, contributing to water management and sustainability in multi-family buildings.
