CAMINHOS PARA TORNAR UMA CIDADE INTELIGENTE: UMA ANÁLISE DO PLANO DIRETOR DE MONTES CLAROS
Abstract
Abstract: The present study investigates the compliance of the Montes Claros Master Plan with the necessary requirements to promote adequate urban intelligence. To achieve this, we adopted a qualitative and exploratory research methodological approach, based on a case study. The results indicate that Montes Claros is emerging as a significant player in the national context and has a specific potential to implement strategies that lead to the improvement of the smart city concept. This is mainly attributed to its status as a city in the process of metropolization. It is expected that the Master Plan will not only propose mechanisms to promote and encourage citizen participation in municipal management, but also establish guidelines for economically sustainable, socially inclusive and ecologically balanced local development. Furthermore, it is essential that the plan contains provisions to protect the environment, water resources, green areas and local historical heritage, while at the same time acting as a facilitator for the implementation of initiatives related to Smart Cities.
