COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF REVIT AND AUTOCAD SOFTWARE IN PREPARING PPCI FOR A COMMERCIAL BUILDING
Abstract
The Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry in recent decades has been impacted by the introduction of AutoCAD software, which revolutionized the way technical drawings were developed, replacing manual methods. However, need for qualification and productivity in this competitive market gave rise to the Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology and the creation of software for the purpose of preparing projects, such as Revit, which brought more quality to the construction process. In this context, this research aimed to carry out a comparative study of the process of preparing a Fire Protection and Fighting Project using BIM software and AutoCAD. The methodological procedures were adopted to choose a project already executed by a company in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte for reproduction, which was defined as a standard project and from it the workflow was defined in accordance with the BIM methodology whose use of its precepts are necessary for the use of its tools and the workflow in AutoCAD. The results obtained corroborate the positive aspects identified in the literature review. The main positive points of using Revit include the automation of the modeling process, detailing and quantitative survey. Furthermore, the study showed that adopting the use of BIM software adds value to the company, as the final documents produced using it were of higher quality than those produced using AutoCAD, as this is just a drawing tool, and for substantially reducing the time required to complete all stages of the project.
