Abstract

The watershed was morphometrically analyzed in a GIS environment, providing a comprehensive understanding of hydrogeomorphological dynamics. With the aim of identifying and calculating morphometric characteristics through the analysis of relief parameters and the drainage network, the study focuses on the Blue River Basin, encompassing the municipalities of Assis Chateaubriand, Maripá, and Palotina, in the state of Paraná, aiming at water management and prevention of hydrometeorological events. The area represents a part of the Piquiri River Basin, the third largest in Paraná. Digital processing in the analysis of the Basin utilized the QGIS software, allowing for automatic delineation based on the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM) Digital Elevation Model (DEM). Morphometric parameters were calculated, revealing that the basin has a narrow and elongated shape, indicating low susceptibility to floods. The sinuosity indices and drainage density suggest high energy and low susceptibility to floods. Altitudinal variation and average slope contribute to topographic complexity. The method, efficient and economical, highlights the importance of soil conservation and environmental management in the region.
