AVALIAÇÃO DA APLICAÇÃO DO ENSAIO DE DCP NA CONSTRUÇÃO DE UM PAVIMENTO DE BAIXO VOLUME DE TRÁFEGO

Abstract

The aim of this work was to analyze the applicability of the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) test in pavement construction with the purpose of assisting in verifying the bearing capacity of compacted layers. The equipment was used in the field on the subgrade, sub-base, and base layers of a flexible asphalt pavement. Several holes were drilled per layer, and the respective soil penetration index values (DN) were calculated and related with other geotechnical parameters. In this paper, a relationship was established between a DN value and the degree of compaction. Furthermore, it was possible to analyze the homogeneity of the compacted layers. Finally, considering the results of this work, it is noted that the DCP equipment has the potential to assist in construction control, especially in compaction inspection services.
