IMPORTÂNCIA DAS TÉCNICAS DE CARACTERIZAÇÃO DOS MATERIAIS PARA CONSTRUÇÃO CIVIL

IMPORTANCE OF MATERIAL CHARACTERIZATION TECHNIQUES FOR CIVIL CONSTRUCTION

Authors

Abstract

The Civil Construction industry in Brazil, in recent decades, has undergone transformations arising from the need to become environmentally friendly, achieving Sustainable Development Goal number 12, promoting sustainable consumption and production. From this perspective, this research aimed to demonstrate the importance of the main material characterization techniques in the manufacture of alternative materials to meet the demands of this sector, based on the application of the main techniques in the characterization of Scheelite and glass waste collected in Rio Grande do Norte. The methodological procedures adopted were: processing of glass residue through grinding and sieving; use of Scheelite residue in the granulometry provided and carrying out their physical, chemical and mineralogical characterization. The results corroborate the positive aspects identified in the bibliographic review on the use of material characterization techniques to determine the characteristics of waste for appropriate use in cement matrices, considering the properties obtained and their interaction with Portland cement. As the physical properties, the chemical and mineralogical composition obtained demonstrate the importance of the techniques in defining which use will be given to these residues in the cement matrices. The physical properties and chemical-mineralogical composition of a given residue may make its use unfeasible or condition the choice of other raw materials to certain characteristics, such as the use of cement resistant to chemical attacks if a reactive component is found in the composition of the residue.
