Abstract

Abstract: Paraná is the leader in tilapia production in Brazil, with 860,355 thousand tons being produced in 2023 in the country. Predominance of excavated nurseries, especially in the north of the state. Small producers: 81% of operations with up to 5 hectares. However, the challenges are significant, with high input costs, difficulties in environmental regularization and various environmental impacts, such as eutrophication and water contamination. One way to mitigate these impacts is through the adoption of sustainable practices such as effluent treatment, use of balanced feed, technical support and environmental regularization. Fish farming has great potential for growth in Paraná, being essential for the sustainable development of the region, being crucial for environmental preservation, technical support, environmental regularization and research are fundamental.
