Abstract

The article analyzes how the ancestral healing knowledge experienced by the women  healers of the Movement Apprentices of wisdom (Masa) disputes space today,  based on historical analysis and criticizes the expropriation of traditional healing knowledge in popular health from the institution of modern medicalized colonial medicine. The article is based on bibliographic and documentary research, as a result of six years of research and participatory action, carried out with the movement. The results show the importance of political articulation in the struggle for institutional recognition of the profession of women with ancestral healing knowledge and in the formation of a collective identity of healers, as one of the resistance strategies used by the movement
