Gerontoespacios homosexuales en Tijuana: dinamitar al edadismo y al heteropatriarcado

Abstract

The first wave of LGBTIQ+ people to become politicized and visible has already aged. However, despite the achievements in terms of rights, visibility and politicization, LGBTIQ+ elders have been relegated to the margins of activist, militant discourses and mediatized sociocultural representations of this population sector. Therefore, in this paper I trace the routes to elucidate the strategies employed by 3 gay men to cope with violence and discrimination based on their age and sexual orientation. I suggest the premise that the reclusion of old age in the home has turned the house into a small territory for homosexual gerontes from where they confront heteropatriarchal and ageist violence.
